Reader’s Question:

How important is long term care insurance among my priorities? I am starting my own family in Colorado.

Mitchel

Northeast Jefferson, CO

Hello there. Mitchel.

Starting a family is both exciting and will cause you anxiety at the same time. You have to remember that although long term care insurance can be a very important purchase, it is also very important that you do not simply run out and buy the first long term care policy that you find.

You have to shop around for reasonable and reliable long term care insurance in Colorado for you to collect some free quotes which you can compare. Better make sure that the quotes contain all the information that you received when asking for clarifications. Remember that you are able to use this information to compare various policies. Find a policy that best presents you the value it is worth.

A good tip I can give you is to try to start shopping online for free quotes and compare them with your local provider for long term care insurance in Colorado. As soon as you are done comparing, you should have at most 5 policies that you shall set aside as the most promising. Then you can start narrowing your options by taking a closer look at their features. Rule of the thumb here is to always ask question. You do not want yourself to be tied up with something you do not know.

To start shopping online, you can type in your zip code on the space provided in this page and get free quotes.

Reader’s Question:

I’m Antoinette and I just gave a thought about this recently. You see, i sometimes borow car from a friend. So, what if I got involved in an accident while driving somebody’s car in Coloradp, will my car insurance cover me? Please enlighten me. Thank you!

Antoinette

Colorado Springs, CO

Hi, Antoinette! Good thing that you become interested with things like that which are not really impossible to happen. Let’s face it, sometimes we go out and we can’t control situations liker driving other’s car and the trouble is when you encounter an accident.

Actually, it depends on the policy language of the vehicle’s owner. Most of the auto insurance policies in Colorado cover any authorized driver of the insured vehicle. It’s not a question if the owner was the one who drove the car or not. But that is unless the policy availed by the owner excluded the security of the driver, of course or again, unless the driver has stolen the insured car. Thieves were not entitled to enjoy the security benefits of the vehicle owner. When it happens, the owner should file a report of the theft case against the driver.

On the other hand, if you drive other’s car and the owner didn’t give you the permission to do so, well this will be a big problem in your part. The company might not shoulder any expense caused by the accident.

Sometimes, it depends not only to the insurance company but to the states where the insurance is enrolled as well. Just like my friend in Texas, he is insured through Progressive and it states there that anyone he allows to use his car will be insured. At the same time, his policy will also take care of him when he drive other’s car.
Anyway, calling your agent before driving somebody’s auto or letting somebody drive yours is a wise thing to do.

Reader’s Question:

I own my small business in Northeast Jefferson, CO. At times, we have struggled, but we seem to have turned the corner. I am now positioned to plan a retirement and sock away some money. My accountant suggested a deferred annuity. What’s that all about?”

Marcos

Northeast Jefferson, CO

Nice going, Marcos!

Sounds like you are being rewarded for your hard work. If you have a 401 (k) program or a Keogh account, you know that they will contribute to your retirement. You also know that the amount you can contribute is regulated. Deferred annuities do not have those limitations. Many small business owners in Northeast Jefferson, CO build their business first and begin to save later in life. Deferred annuity accounts are well-suited for late savers. This program can be tailored to provide tax-deferred income in your retirement.

Deferred annuities can be structured so that you cannot outlive the investment. Income keeps coming. Typically, deferred annuities are purchased by clients between the ages of 40 and 65. So, Marcos, it is not too late to get started.

While deferred annuities broaden your investment scope, they also provide a death benefit to assist your loved ones. Contact a Florida insurance agent to get all the details, but it sounds like your accountant has put you on the right track.

Reader’s Question:

I am from Colorado. Our second child is on the way. My wife and I feel we need life insurance, just in case. Can you clarify differences between term and permanent life insurance?

Anthony

Denver, CO

Sure, Anthony.

It must be exciting around your house right now. Term life and permanent life have one major similarity. They serve to the benefit the beneficiary or beneficiaries. Term life and permanent insurance allow the owner to select the recipient of tax-free proceeds as a death benefit.

You see, there can be many types of permanent life insurance. These plans not only provide a death benefit but they often serve as investment products. There may be significant tax savings for these plans. Term life insurance has no investment features. The owner purchases a set amount of insurance for a renewable period of time. Usually the premiums are paid monthly.

Term life insurance is also available in an annual-renewable policy. With this insurance the owner can renew after one year but does not have to have a new medical examination. Many young candidates prefer this type of term insurance. Substantial value can be purchased at very reasonable rates. The automatically renewable aspect of this term policy is a terrific feature. Down the road, your term policy can generally be converted to permanent insurance.

Anthony, as your family grows in Colorado their dependency on you increases. This is a good time to be considering either a permanent or term life insurance policy. All the best of luck with your new arrival!
