Reader’s Question:

I have been shopping around for health insurance quotes online in Aurora CO but I have never really applied since I am not sure if it is a very good option to purchase my health insurance online than to talk with a real live agent in person. Would be purchasing online as good as purchasing from a live agent in person?

Therese

Aurora, CO

That’s such a good question, Therese.

I am one of the persons who are most comfortable doing transactions online. For me, it is not only convenient way to do business, it can also be very fast and easy. Based on my experience, purchasing your health insurance online is as good as purchasing it from a live person…it can even be better since online transactions can move very fast. Your health insurance policy in Aurora CO can get activated as fast as a day after the transmission day (which means actual payment of the premium, using your credit card online). When you purchase it from a live person, transactions are usually done through mail and most health insurance companies use the USPS to send your documents, which might take time.

The bottom line is that, I am hitting at speed to be the main concern why online transaction is better in purchasing health insurance. But if speed is not an issue for you, I should say, in essence they are the same. You get the same insurance policy whether you get it online or from an insurance agent you get to talk in person. The only difference is that when you talk to a live agent, he/she will have a chance to explain to you the important details of the policy which might not be expressly understood in print.

Reader’s Question:

What do you mean by policy waivers and exclusions for a health insurance policy in Colorado? Are there any other things in the smaller print that I need to know?

Candice

Aurora, CO

Hello there, Candice!

Most health insurance companies in Colorado develop policies with certain exclusions which are termed as “waivers and exclusions”. These are really statements that the health insurance company will not pay for certain types of accidents or sicknesses. Once you sign a waiver, it now becomes part of the policy. Waivers are put together for the company to exclude a specific illness you have or a previous injury in the past and waivers can be permanent. Waivers can only come off a policy of you and the company agree too remove such waiver.

I will also take this opportunity to inject additional information on most HMO and PPO plans. Most are required to provide a way for you to appeal coverage benefit decisions which you believe are wrong, such as when you think that your claim is incorrectly denied or if you are not treated fairly. The state law requires that health insurance companies should have a plan to administer a process in case of grievances or disputes. That way, health insurance policy holders will have a quick and inexpensive way to resolve disputes. Also, it retains your right to the health insurance company if needed.

Another important concept is that there are some companies that require you to submit a pre-certification of any healthcare service or procedure that you undertake for your to get reimbursed by the health insurance company.

Cheaper Life Insurance Rate Colorado CO

Reader’s Question:

My family has history of diabetes. Even if I am high-risk, I watch my diet well and avoid eating foods that can make me prone to diabetes. I also exercise regularly. If I work it out to better my health conditions, will it result to a cheaper life insurance rate in Colorado?

James

Lakewood, CO

Absolutely, James.

Good health is really a key to get cheaper life insurance rates. For example, cigarette smokers pay at least double the premium compared to that of non-smokers. Family history of diabetes, cancer, stroke, heart disease, or other chronic diseases will rob you off of cheaper life insurance rates. If you contract any chronic disease yourself, your life insurance premiums might be higher than the best rates.

There are corresponding classifications for life insurance depending on a number of categories that determine the risk of dying. The cheapest life insurance policy is normally the best category and is called “super preferred”, followed by “preferred”. The higher rates next in line are the “standard” and “special class”

In Colorado, only the healthiest are rated super preferred, followed by the average person who qualify for a standard rate. That is basically the reason why you have to continue to take control of your lifestyle choices to avoid anything that can hurt your health.

Take not that the classification based on health will vary from one company to another. It is best that you shop around to compare not just rates, but also standards.

Reader’s Question:

I happened to land at your site while I was trying to get a quote for a life insurance. Do you have any tips before I purchase a life insurance in Colorado?

Greg

Fort Collins, CO

Hello there Greg!

I hope by the time you read my answer, you still have not ran out and purchase a policy yet. I was on the same boat where you are right now, and with the great number of life insurance companies out there, purchasing life insurance is no longer a basic task…but rather more of a game of trade.

On a personal account, before I made my first purchase for life insurance in Colorado, I did a lot of research ahead of time. That way, I was able to get the best possible coverage at the right price.

To get you started, you can shop around the internet first. Try out the many insurance websites in Colorado that can provide you with instant quotes. Bear in mind though that some websites do not consider the factors of your medical history that can affect premiums.

Once you have decided, never buy more coverage than you need. Doing so will make you pay more unnecessarily for high premiums. Also, you need to watch your health because the healthier you are, the better the rates. Buy sooner than later since the younger you purchase life insurance, the lower the premiums. Periodically review your coverage since any life changing events might leave you underinsured or overinsured (that’s when there is a birth of a child, or when you’d have grown up children, etc).

You might want to start shopping instantly by typing your zip code at the form provided for on this page.

Enjoy your shopping Greg!

Reader’s Question:

I am a 25 year old female working in as a teller in a bank in Colorado. Most of my colleagues are married and have kids and almost all of them have invested in a life insurance. Should I invest in one too? When do you need life insurance?

Tracy

Aurora, CO

It really depends on you priorities. Though, I must say that not everyone needs life insurance. Are you planning on having a family soon? If you are, then life insurance becomes a must.

Colorado life insurance is one way you can insure that your family will be provided for if something happens to you.

But what if your kids are gone in the future? Life insurance in Colorado might still be a good idea for you if you care primarily for a spouse or an aging parent. The key thought is: you need a life insurance if someone depends upon your income for some of the necessities of life.

If your family is grown up, you do not have aging parents to care for, and your spouse is retired with his own pension, then life insurance is no longer a necessity. What you can do instead is to invest the amount that you would have paid in premiums for you to get more out of it.
